A Mother’s Blessings, sometimes also known as a Blessingway, is a ceremony that is meant to honor, celebrate, and support a pregnant woman as she transitions into motherhood.

A Mother’s Blessing, sometimes known as a Blessingway, is a ceremony that is meant to honor, celebrate, and support a pregnant woman as she transitions into motherhood. It is a kind of a ritual marking this sacred rite of passage. The focus is on the mother-to-be, and offering love and encouragement as she prepares for birth and the time of postpartum. A Mother’s Blessing can be custom tailored, with special attention to include culturally and personally relevant elements. The ceremony is rooted in nature, and centered around the creating of a space that honors all of the elements of life; Water, Earth, Fire, and Air. It may include herbs, flowers, candles, and other symbolic items that are important to the mother-to-be, family, and friends. It may also include a Copaltemaliztl, or burning of sacred copal smoke.
